Meet Sarah, Co-Founder

A Lifelong Passion for Animals

There has never been a time in Sarah’s life when there wasn’t an animal in the family. After inheriting her love for animals from her grandfather, who bred birds and fish, Sarah and her father went on to establish their own aviaries and tanks. As Sarah grew, so did her passion for animals, owning most of the usual ‘pets,’ and she remembers her first big responsibility was looking after them all.

From Birds to Reptiles

The first animal Sarah purchased was a parrot at 13, Zazu, whom she loved for over 24 years. She will happily tag herself as a crazy bird lady, now the proud owner of Scuttle from the Reptiles Off' Roadin' team.

Bringing Experience to Reptiles Off' Roadin'

After meeting Ellena, she was encouraged to buy her first reptile, a chameleon, and that quickly spiralled into a wider selection of reptiles, mammals, invertebrates, and birds. Sarah can combine her love for animals with her life experience, working at Chester Zoo, her business degree, and her care work to support Ellena in creating fun, personal, interactive sessions.

A Lifelong Passion for Wildlife

Ellena’s love for animals began in childhood when she became fascinated by the frogs in her garden pond. That curiosity soon grew into a passion, leading her to keep leopard geckos. As she got older, Ellena knew she wanted to expand her animal family. When she and her husband, Byron, moved into their first home with their dog Biffy, it was the perfect time to welcome a reptile — JP, a bearded dragon. Since then, she has rehomed several geckos and continues to provide a safe, caring environment for all her animals.

Bringing Education and Animal Encounters Together

As a primary school teacher, Ellena loves sharing her passion for reptiles, amphibians, and other wildlife. Her background in education helps her design engaging, hands-on sessions that make learning about animals fun, memorable, and accessible for both children and adults.

At Reptiles Off' Roadin', Ellena merges her love for animals with her expertise in education to ensure every encounter is both exciting and educational. Through her carefully designed sessions, she aims to inspire curiosity, encourage hands-on learning, and foster a deeper respect for wildlife, making each experience truly unforgettable.
